Generations works with a number of other State of Iowa and federal programs
as part of our mission to help those 60 and beyond remain self-sufficient.

Second Wind Employment Programs
Choices Connection
Advanced Care Planning
Have you taken the time to ask yourselves these questions?
- What type of end-of-life care is available to me and what would I choose?
- How do I communicate my end-of-life wishes to my family and friends?
- What questions should my loved ones ask my doctors about my end-of-life care?
These can be tough questions to ask ... and even tougher to answer. But you don't want to leave them until it's too late. That's why we offer Choices Connection, a comprehensive advanced care planning service to help you and your loved ones.
There's no easy way to plan for future health-care choices. It's a complicated and sensitive issue. But we can help.
To get started on your advanced care planning or to learn more about Choices Connection, contact Generations Area Agency on Aging at (563) 324-9085 or (800) 892-9085.
Empowering Seniors to Prevent Healthcare Fraud (SMP)
A long-term Medicare/Medicaid effort to work on the problem.
The Problem...
Each year about $1 out of every $10 spent on Medicare and Medicaid is lost through simple mistakes, abuse and, sometimes, even fraud.
Examples include:
Billing for services or supplies not provided.
Altering claim forms to obtain higher payments.
Offering kickbacks, bribes, or rebates.
Billing Medicare a higher rate than non-Medicare patients.
It wastes a lot of money!
These problems waste billions of much-needed tax dollars each year. With less money available, we lose money for efforts that can have a positive impact on our health and quality of life.
In Iowa, the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs' Operation Restore Trust recruits and trains retired individuals through the Area Agencies on Aging to identify waste, abuse and fraud in Medicare and Medicaid.
